There is also a playful economy of blessing — guests pin small bills during the money dance, or toss confetti and rice in gestures that are as much about luck and abundance as they are about making noise and marking the passage. Children dart between adults like bright birds, collecting candies and anecdotes that will be retold at future gatherings. Regional variety keeps the scene lively.
